Mapcade has no accounts, no sign-in and no advertising. It contains no third-party analytics, no trackers and no advertising SDKs. Nothing collected is sold, rented or shared with anyone, and none of it is used to build a profile of you.
Your display name, whether sound is on, your best scores and a short memory of which games and countries you have played lately are stored on the device and are never sent anywhere. Deleting the app deletes them.
Solo play sends nothing. When you create or join a room, the app connects to our server at api.mapcade.com and sends, for as long as that room is open:
This is held only while the room is live. A room deletes itself and everything in it two hours after it goes quiet.
To learn which questions are too easy and which countries are harder than we assumed, the app sends a sample of answers: which game it was, which country, which answer was given and the score out of a hundred. There is no name, no identifier of any kind, no room code and no timestamp finer than the day. A record says only that somebody, some time today, answered Chad on this question and was wrong.
Mapcade asks for camera access for one reason: to read the QR code shown on another player's screen so you can join their room. Frames are examined on your device to look for a code and are never stored, uploaded or sent anywhere. You can refuse the permission and type room codes in by hand instead.
The server runs on Cloudflare, which processes this data on our behalf and may route it through servers in countries other than your own. Nothing described above is stored in a database that outlives the room, apart from the anonymous statistics, which cannot be traced back to a person or a device.
Mapcade is rated 4+ and is safe for children. It asks for no personal information, has no chat, no messaging, no links out to the web and no purchases of any kind. The one thing a child could type is a display name, which other players in the same room will see, so pick a nickname rather than a full name.
There is no account to delete and no data of yours we could look up, because nothing sent to us identifies you. To remove everything Mapcade holds about you, delete the app and leave any room you are in. If you have a question about this, email us.
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
